RSPCA/RWAF minimum standards for two rabbits: hutch (sleeping area): 3m × 2m × 1m HIGH (6m² floor area). Run/exercise area: 8m² minimum. Common Misconceptions
'Rabbits are happy in a hutch' — false. Wild rabbits range up to 2 hectares. Hutch-only life is profoundly unnatural. 'A 4ft hutch is big enough' — false. 4ft (1.2m) is less than 3 consecutive hops. Welfare organisations would consider this inadequate. 'My rabbit gets out in the garden sometimes' — better but not enough. Rabbits need DAILY access to substantial space. 24-hour access ideal.
