Lawn Seeding Guide

Best Time to Seed

Late summer to early autumn (August–October in the northern hemisphere) is ideal — soil is warm, air is cooling, and rainfall increases. Spring (April–May) is second best. Avoid seeding in high summer heat or winter cold.

Seed and Soil Preparation

Remove weeds, rake to a fine tilth (crumbly texture), and firm the surface before seeding. Apply seed evenly using a spreader, rake lightly, and water gently. Keep the surface moist until germination (7–21 days depending on temperature).

Seed Types

Shade tolerant mixes for areas under trees. Hard wearing mixes for high-traffic family lawns. Fine ornamental mixes for formal lawns. Choose based on the main use of your lawn, not appearance alone.
