Budget and Quality
The sweet spot for quality vs price in UK wine retail (2024): under £7: very mixed quality — you can find decent supermarket own-label. £8-12: significantly better quality — this is where most reliable wines sit. £12-20: noticeably better complexity, more interesting producers. Above £20: diminishing returns for most occasions. For a party: a solid £10-12 bottle will please most guests and cost no more than £120 for 10 bottles. Buying a case (12 bottles) usually gives a 5-10% discount. Supermark
